The
ARC-8 series of radio consoles...
With a single
stereo mixing bus, the ARC-8 is ideal for fast paced live on air,
production, and remote applications. Two mics supports a host and
guest talk format. The mix minus bus (for an external hybrid) supports
Telephone talk formats or call ins. The ‘Talk’ button
on mic channel one feeds the mic to the caller and the caller to
the console cue system... fast and easy! The ARC-8 even has a built
in PC USB sound card on channel 8B to play in digital directly
from your favorite PC audio software. At the same time, the Program
output from the console records in digital over the USB directly
to your PC recording software. Arrakis even provides ‘Digilink-Xtreme’ software
with the system to get you on air & doing production immediately.
The ARC-8 is also easy to install with BOTH professional balanced
and consumer unbalanced input & output jacks. The ARC-8 is
ideal for any on air or production radio application !

Attractive
& durable...
The ARC-8
console is compact and durable for professional Radio applications.
The 0.059" steel chassis is extremely
strong and well finished with two part epoxy paint. The front panel
graphics are on the reverse side of a beautiful polycarbonate overlay
for scratch resistance and long life. The switches have LED lighted
indicators to clearly display switch status. The power supply is
an external auto-sensing 90-240VAC module to support domestic and
international applications.

Four
types of Input Channels...
Channels One & Two are Mic channels
Two mic channels are included on the ARC-8 to support a Host and Guest talk
show in the main control room itself. Both channels have high performance
mic preamplifiers with optional 48Volt phantom power for condenser mics.
Channels Three through Seven are stereo
Line level Channels
Channels 3-7 are stereo, line level input channels appropriate for source devices
like CD players, MP3 players, network feeds, etc. Channel 3 has an A/B input
select switch where either an unbalanced stereo input or a balanced stereo
input may be selected. Channel 4-7 have both an unbalanced -10dBu consumer
level input on RCA connectors and a balanced
+4dBu
level input on an RJ45 connector. A source can be connected
to either set of input connectors (not both). The unbalanced inputs are
ideal for studios where the sources are located locally in the studio itself.
The
balanced inputs should be selected if some of these sources (such as a satellite
feed) are originated in other studios where the wiring could be long and introduce
hum & noise.
built-in PC sound card on Channel
8B for Play & Record
The ARC-8 contains a built-in, Windows compatible, USB sound card on
Channel 8B USB connection to a PC. Most Windows compatible audio software
can play and record from the console. Digilink-Xtreme (ARC console mode) software
comes free with the ARC console. The Digilink-Xtreme software will recognize
the ARC-8 console and operate in the ‘free’ ARC mode to provide’Live On
Air’ features that are ideal for broadcast, internet, or podcast style radio
applications.
Telephone Channel on Channel Seven for
Live On Air Talk or Off-line Contests
Channel seven has both an unbalanced -10dBu consumer level input on RCA connectors
and a balanced +4dBu level input on an RJ45 connector. A source can be connected
to either set of input connectors. Any type of analog source can be used, but
if a telephone hybrid is connected as the source to channel 7, then a special
mix-minus bus output is provided to feed the external telephone hybrid. The
mix-minus
bus
output to the hybid includes every channel on the Program bus EXCEPT for channel
7 so that there is no feedback to the caller. The mix minus output is a +4dBu
balanced signal for connection to professional hybrids.
For off-line (not on air) communication with the
caller, a 'Talk' button on channel one is provided. Push
the 'Talk' button and the channel one mic will be fed to the caller
and the callers audio will be fed to the Cue system. To place the
caller on air, just push the red channel on button at the bottom
of channel 7.
The telephone system in the ARC-8 does not include
hybrid control logic so the telephone system is controlled from
the front panel of the hybrid.

Unbalanced, & Digital outputs...
