PC Requirements For Digilink-Xtreme

The On-Air machine may be purchased from Arrakis Systems and is pre-configured ready to go. To learn more, please go here.

If you would like to purchase your own On-Air machine, the minimum specs are:

1) OS: Windows 7, 8 Pro and Windows 10.

2) RAM: 3GB of RAM or more

3) Processor: Passmark CPU mark of 5000 or faster. Benchmark listings for processors may be found here:

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php.

4) Form Factor: Must be a desktop PC, not a laptop.

5) Hardware: RS232 Port. We require an RS232 port in order to connect to the Bridge switcher. Therefore, if you want this PC to act as a true backup for the on-air, it must have an RS232 port. Most PC's don't have a built in RS232 port but can use a USB to RS232 adapter. If your PC does not have an RS232 port built in to the PC, then you will be required to purchase a specific RS232 adapter: ATEN USB to Serial RS232 Converter (UC-232A)

You may purchase this direct from us for $29 or from most website retailers. If you choose to purchase it from us, then add the item to the order form. You may also email sales@arrakis-systems.com for other purchase options.

We will not support any other adapters.

6) Purchase from major retailers such as Dell, Walmart, Best Buy, ect... These PC's tend to be more reliable than custom PC's built at custom PC stores

7) No refurbished PC's. You'll always be better off with a new PC.

8) No all-in-one PC's. These use up more resources than a desktop PC, and may not function as well.

We strongly recommend using the Windows OS that came with your PC. Do not update a Windows XP computer to Windows 7. Your PC hardware was designed with drivers that work specifically with your original OS. If you want to update an OS, then you will want to purchase a new PC.

Remote Access Requirements

In order to reliably remotely access Digilink-Xtreme, it is necessary to have an Internet speed of at least 2mbps download and upload at both the remote location and your studio. Whatever is the slowest speeds at either location will be your bottleneck. An example may be:

Studio - 20mbps down / 5mbps up

Remote studio - 25mbps down / 1mbps up

In this example, your fastest speed will be the 1mbps up since your remote studio only has a 1mbps upload speed.

Slower speeds may result in the software crashing, and lengthy delays. If an Internet connection is a concern, it may be better to use a phone system that can send audio and closures to your on-air studio.
